Favorite Beauty Products – April

Another month, another excuse to shop so I can make an awesome favorites video! I gotta admit, this may be my favorite kind of video to make, because feel I like it justifies my shopping habit. Nothing quiets a shopping killjoy better than saying “hey man, it’s for my job!” Really though, I don’t shop for pleasure, I shop to keep my readers and viewers informed. It’s more like a labor of love, really. Not convinced, huh? Ya, neither was anyone else hahaha.

In any case, here’s what I loved for the month of April!

Products Mentioned:
Aveeno POSITIVELY RADIANT Intensive Night Cream $16.99
CoverFX Mattifying Primer with Anti-Acne Treatment $38
Maybelline Eye Studio Color Tattoo Metal 24 Hour Cream Gel Eye Shadow- Inked in Pink, Gold Rush – $6.99
Aqualillies for Tarte Amazonian clay waterproof eye and cheek palette $38
NYX Jumbo Eye Shadow Pencil- Peacock $4.99
NYX Glam Liner Aqua Luz Collection – Glam Azure $5.50
L’Oreal Infallible 24 Hour Eyeshadow – Smoldering Plum, Midnight Blue $7.95

MY FAVORITE SUMMER PALETTE! Aqualillies for Tarte Eye & Cheek Palette

I started my search for an amazing summer palette early this year, and found this stunning waterproof eye and cheek palette by Tarte Cosmetics. At $38, this gorgeous compact has everything you need to look stunning on a gorgeous summer day – six eyeshadows (matte and shimmer), bronzer, highlighter and blush. Best of all, these colors are all waterproof, sweatproof and heatproof! Watch my review now, then check out the color swatches below!

The first thing to catch my eye was this gorgeous packaging, that kind of reminds me of a mermaid tail. Even the box is too pretty to throw away!

The compact itself is sleek, well-organized and has a huge mirror, which I love because it’s something I can actually use to apply a full face of makeup.

I’m in love with the selection of colors, that features mattes, shimmering neutrals and just a few pops of summer color. I especially love the turquoise shade (poolside), which is super pigmented and looks lovely swept along the lower lashline.

The top picture in this series is the colors when they are freshly swatched, while the second picture shows the colors after being submerged in water. As you can see, they faded a tad but stayed remarkably well considering how much water I exposed them too. If after a long shower, hair washing and a hair treatment these colors still look great, they will surely hold up under the bright summer sun.

Check back soon for reviews of the rest of the Aqualillies for Tarte line, and visit Tarte.com to get your own!

Beauty Things I Suck at!

People tend to think because I’m a beauty blogger/beauty guru, I know it all when it comes to beauty. Well, that’s only partly true (haha!). Like any normal gal, there are things I’m good at, and things I’m not so good at. This tag talks about the things I just can’t seem to master, no matter how hard I try. I really enjoyed making this tag video because I think it’s a fun way to show you all that even the “experts” have issues with this stuff sometimes, too. Enjoy!

Wanna do this fun tag too? Go for it, then post it as a video response to my video (on YouTube, not here), so all my subscribers can see. It’s a great way to get exposure, and a fun way to interact with fellow YouTubers like me!

Beauty Bargains of the Week: 4/7 – 4/13

Happy Sunday, beauty lovers!

I was thinking about new features I could add to my blog the other night when it dawned on me – I should do a weekly post about the week’s best beauty bargains. While I love high-end makeup, I love a good bargain even more, so why not scour the the weekly circulars to save a little cash, and pass the information on to my lovely readers!?

As this is a new feature, bare with me as I get the hang of it and figure out how I want to format these posts. And as always, if you have any suggestions, feel free to let me know in the comments section. And now, let’s talk about the week’s best deals!

FOTD – SF Giants Opening Day!

It’s baseball season once again, as today was opening day for my beloved San Francisco Giants. While I desperately wanted to go to the game and cheer them on in person, I had to work. Boo. That doesn’t mean I can’t still be festive and support my team from my cubicle, though!

Since today was also Baseball Day ay work, it was the perfect opportunity to bust out my new Giants shirt (made by moi, of course!) and try my hand at a little orange and black makeup. I look a little washed out in the photo below because I didn’t use a filter, but I really wanted to keep the colors as true to what they look like in real life as possible.

Products used:

Face:
Revlon Colorstay Whipped Foundation – Rich Ginger 160
Laura Geller Balance N Brighten Mineral Foundation – Tan
Revlon Photoready Concealer Stick – 04

Eyes:
Urban Decay Primer Potion
NYX Eyeshadow – Hot Orange (lid)
Too Faced Natural at Night Palette – Hot Cocoa (Crease), Spotlight (Highlight)
Urban Decay Eye Shadow – Oil Slick (Outer V)
L’Oreal Telescopic Shocking Extensions Mascara – Blackest Black
Maybelline Master Precise Liquid Eyeliner Pen – Black (Top lashline and wing)
Maybelline Unstoppable Eyeliner – Onyx (Waterline)

Eyebrows:
Benefit BrowZings – Dark

Cheeks:
Laura Geller Baked ImPRESSions Blush – Mauve Mocha Latte

Lips:
MAC Lipliner – Absolutely It
MAC Lipstick – Twig
NYX Megashine Lipgloss – Beige Pearl

And that’s it! Let me know if you guys would like to see a tutorial on this look. Otherwise…Plaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay Baaaaaaaaaaaaall!!!
