Revlon Colorburst Lip Butter Review and Swatches

When I first saw the commercial for Revlon’s new line of Lip Butters I wasn’t particularly enthused because I figured it was just tinted lip balm in fancy packaging. But then Walgreen’s had a sale that led me to try them, and the end result was a full-fledged love affair between my lips and this product.

Sound dirty? Oh, it is. The way the supple balm glides across my lips making them look and feel like butter. The way the formula moisturizes in such a way that I can’t stop smacking my lips together. I can just hear the Barry White music playing in my head when I even talk about it.

All lip porn aside (is that a real thing?), these are surprisingly pigmented for lip butter – some colors are so vibrant they look like regular lipstick. And I really love the packing because the tubes are so simple they look almost vintage. I remember when I was a little girl my aunt had similarly textured tubes of lip color in her purse, so these feel a little nostalgic to me.

These are the four colors I picked up: (from left to right) Raspberry Pie, Cupcake, Lollipop and Pink Truffle. Of the 20 available shades, these were the ones that most caught my eye. After trying these however, I most definitely plan on buying a few more such as Red Velvet and Sugar Frosting.

As I mentioned before, these are surprisingly pigmented and fabulously vibrant considering they’re being advertised more as a lip butter than a lip color. (from left to right) Raspberry Pie, Cupcake, Lollipop, Pink Truffle

Oh and FYI, my curiosity got the best of me and I Googled the term “Lip Porn” to see if it is in fact a real thing. And I wish I hadn’t. Cuz it is. And it’s terrifying. So don’t do it. DO try these lip butters though.

Final Verdict: LOVE IT

Lovely Lips Tutorial – Hot Pink! *using drugstore products*

I get a lot of questions about the hot pink lips I’m wearing in my Twitter avatar, so I figured I would go ahead and do a quick lip tutorial for you guys. Everything I use to put this together can be found at any drugstore, and all these products are less than $10 each!

For this look you will need:
NYX Lipliner – Currant (for a deeper hot pink) or Dolly Pink (for a lighter hot pink)
Covergirl LipPerfection Lipstick- Spellbound
NYC Liquid Shine lip gloss- Fashion Ave Fuchsia

Once you’re done, just pucker up and prepare to bask in the compliments as your pretty pink pout gets you noticed!

Mission Impossible: Orange Lipstick.

Vibrant orange lips have taken over the world, from the runways of Paris to the sidewalks full of club hoochies downtown. And while I love the hue on fair and dark skin tones, I’ve thus far only looked on in envy because us Olive/Tan skinned girls have always been told to stay away from such colors.

But alas, my longing for sexy shades of Creamsicle, tangerine and coral has become too much for me to withstand. And so I’ve decided to go on a mission. A mission to find a shade of orange that looks not just good, but amazing on not quite light, not quite dark skinned girls such as myself. Tonight I began my mission at Ulta, scouring through the isles for the loveliest shades I could find, and this is what I picked up:

In this very pile of creamy lipsticks and glittering glosses, I WILL find a combination that looks good on not just me, but those of you who have been writing in with similar concerns about this lovely yet stress inducing trend. Now that the Sharks game is finally over (and OMG what a game!) I’m hard at work slathering my lips with these lovely shades. Once I’ve perfected the formula, I’ll film a tutorial so as that I can share my findings with you all. Until then, rest easy beauties; your girl Jackie is on the case.

Hayden Panettiere – Get the Look!

Red lipstick – ur doin’ it right!

Hats off to Hayden’s make-up artist, because this girl looks amazing every time I see her – especially as seen here at recent red carpet event. As soon as I saw this look I knew I had to replicate it, and after a lot of mixing, matching and fail I finally got it right:

Face: Start with a great moisturizer, then apply a creamy foundation like Make-up Forever HD. To get the dewy look, mix in a drop or two of gold based highlighter – my personal fave is Benefit Moon Beam. Finish with a light dusting of pressed or loose powder, but don‘t over do it or you’ll end up with the cakey, I put my make-up on with a putty knife look. Which is not hot.

Eyes: Apply Urban Decay Primer Potion to the entire lid area, followed by an off white shadow like Cover Girl Eye Enhancers in French Vanilla. Then, sweep Urban Decay Eyeshadow in Midnight Cowgirl across your lid, dipping the eyeshadow brush in a little water first to achieve the intense gold color Hayden is sporting. For the crease, you can use pretty much any matte black eyeshadow you like, but apply it lightly so as not to overpower the gold. Using a smudge brush – like Sephora Brand #11 – blend a touch of the black shadow under the eye as well. Next, apply a black, liquid liner to the upper lid, and rim the lower water line with a long wearing black eye pencil. Finish with an exquisite set of false lashes, like Make-up Forever lashes in dense black or three coats of an ultra rich mascara like Cargo Texas Lash.

Cheeks: Use a shimmery beige color like Nars blush in Zen.

Lips: Line lips with Urban Decay 24/7 lipliner in Ozone. It’s clear, so it’ll keep your lipstick in place without changing it’s color. Then sweep on a healthy application of MAC lipstick in Russian Red.

And there ya have it kids! Learn it, know it, live it!
